Master the Maze of Parenting
Master the Maze is an online counselling service that serves parents, including step-parents, foster parents, grandparents, and other caregivers.
My approach is an attachment-based and developmentally-friendly way of parenting I call Conscious Parenting. I offer
♥ counselling, parent education, and support by video and telephone
♥ parenting workshops and courses by request (see Classes for examples)
What Is Conscious Parenting?
Conscious Parenting looks underneath challenging behaviours in children and focuses on the unconscious roots of those behaviours.
Difficult behaviours in children are symptoms of underlying emotional distress. Conscious Parenting looks underneath difficult behaviours and looks for the underlying emotional distress. Once the emotional distress is attended to, challenging behaviors will lessen.
Parenting Can Be Frustrating and Confusing
You are not alone. Thousands of parents face the same daunting and perplexing parenting challenges you are facing.
- “I love my child and I’m a loving parent. Why is nothing working with this child?”
- “I’ve read all the parenting books. Why does my child not listen or cooperate?”
- “All I want is a happy family. Why is my child bossy and difficult?”
- “I get embarrassed about my children’s behaviour. Why do they persist in pushing my buttons?”
Despite our best intentions and our deep yearnings to be the best possible parents, dealing with our children’s difficult behaviours can leave us feeling angry, alone, overwhelmed, and even ashamed about our parenting.

“Our children want to belong to us, even if they don’t feel that way, and even if their words or actions seem to signal the opposite.”
